Thai aviation authorities gave airlines the green light to use U-Tapao Airport

Thai aviation authorities gave airlines the green light to use U-Tapao Airport. Mr. Chaisak Angkasuwan, Director General of the Civil Aviation Department said that he had authorized more than 20 airlines to utilise the airport, and already a number of flights had landed. He also requested that Immigration and Customs staff to reinforce the number of staff at the airport.

Thai aviation authorities are also coordinating with Thai Airways and other airlines in transferring the stranded passengers and tourists to U-Tapao International Airport, so that they can continue onto their destination.


Tourism Authority of Thailand provides assistance to stranded passengers

Due to the suspension of services at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, all inbound and outbound flights were cancelled since 04.00 hrs. during 25-26 November 2008, causing inconvenience to passengers.

The stranded passengers who fly with Thai Airways have been accommodated by Thai Airways International. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT), Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) and Thai Hotels Association (THA) transferred the remaining stranded passengers to the following hotels:

Don Mueang Airport Closed

November 27th, 2008

Don Mueang Airport , all flights, inbound and outbound from Don Mueang International Airport were stopped since 12.00AM, 27 November 2008 due to the anti-government protesters have blocked passenger terminal and all access to the airport.
