Cabinet cancels Suvarnabhumi metropolis project
April 8th, 2007Military-installed cabinet accepted the Interior Ministry’s request to withdraw the draft bill on the proposed establishment of a special administrative zone around Suvarnabhumi airport from scrutiny by the Council of State.
The move comes because it was the Thaksin government-initiated project and was blasted in a series of recent polls conducted by the military installed’s ministry.
Deputy military’s government spokeswoman Netpreeya Chumchaiyo said the request was accepted after the ministry forwarded the findings and recommendations of a series of surveys on the draft bill.
Suvarnabhumi’s public taxi will move to 2nd floor of the main airport building
April 5th, 2007- Taxi stands will move up from the frontal road on the first floor of the passenger terminal to the second floor after the Songkran festival ends on April 17
- Buses will be allowed to pick up passengers from the frontal road on the second floor instead of waiting at the remote bus terminal located away from the main terminal building.
- Limousine services and vehicles of hotel associations and group tour operators will be relocated from the second floor down to the first floor.

Airports of Thailand gave Loxley a month to improve security service at Suvarnabhumi
April 4th, 2007The Airports of Thailand (AOT) board yesterday agreed not to revoke the 10-year contract for the provision of security services at Suvarnabhumi with the Loxley-ICTS consortium, and gave the consortium a month to improve its performance. Board spokesman Chirmsak Pinthong said the board decided not to revoke the contract under several conditions.
The consortium must maintain the number of security guards at Suvarnabhumi at the levels stated in the contract and also boost their quality and qualifications. There must be also no security incidents at the airport.
