Phuket Airport to resume operation at 5 pm today
September 17th, 2007Airports of Thailand on Monday (September 17, 2007) announced that Phuket International Airport will resume its operation at 5 pm Monday, September 17, 2007.
It said the fact that the One-Two-GO aircraft, flight OG 269, from Bangkok to Phuket crash-landed and skidded off the runway of Phuket International Airport on September 16, 2007 at around 3.30 pm.
The incient has caused the airport to temporarily cease its operation from 4 pm onwards and it has been expected to resume its operation as normal on September 17, 2007 at around 5 pm.
Airlines passenger jet flight OG269 crashed upon landing at Phuket airport
September 17th, 2007A One-Two-Go Airlines passenger jet ‘flight OG269‘ with 130 people aboard crashed and broke in two while landing at Phuket Airport in foul weather late Sunday afternoon (September 16, 2007). Rescue workers said the death toll could be high.
The plane of the budget airline skidded off the runway after landing and crashed into trees, bursting into fire, said Channel 7 TV.
Initial reports estimated that at least 60 passengers died in the fiery accident. But there was hope there were survivors.
Chaisak Angsuwan, director general of the Air Transport Authority of Thailand said the aircraft broke in two as it attempted to land at Phuket airport in bad weather.
Residents around Suvarnabhumi airport accept deal on noise problem
September 12th, 2007Residents around Suvarnabhumi airport who have affected by noise pollution have reached a tentative deal with Airport of Thailand aviation authorities following talks on Tuesday.
Prasert Boonkaew, a key protester and representative of noise pollution victims, said after emerging from talks with Transport Minister Theera Haocharoen that he was satisfied with promises made by the minister to follow up on the progress of noise mitigation schemes and financial compensation owed to affected residents.
The residents also agreed with plans to set up a special committee to deal with this problem in particular.
