Suvarnabhumi Airport Closed
November 26th, 2008Due to the protesters blockade at the airport, the Airports of Thailand has decided to temporary close the Suvarnabhumi airport since 04.00 AM, 26 November 2008 onward.

Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel voted the Best Airport Hotel
July 23rd, 2008Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand was voted the ‘Best Airport Hotel’ in the recent TravelWeekly (Asia) Industry Awards 2008 organised by TravelWeekly. The awards ceremony, which was held on Thursday, 17 July at The Marriott Hotel in Singapore, recognized the best in the Asian travel industry, acknowledging their contributions to tourism and hospitality.
The TravelWeekly (Asia) Industry Awards selection process starts with nominations by a distinguished panel of judges who are experts and veterans in the industry. The awardees from each category are selected based on the total number of votes garnered from TravelWeekly readers and industry peers. This year, the winners were chosen from a total of 2.2 million votes registered for all categories.
Airports of Thailand spends Bt9.5 million on lands and buildings affected by airport noise
July 20th, 2008Chairman of the committee on noise pollution of the Suvarnabhumi Airport, Somchai Sawasdipol, says the Airports of Thailand (AOT) signed a contract to buy and transfer the title deeds of lands and buildings in areas affected by Noise Exposure Forecast (NEF) higher than 40 excreted from the Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Thirteen buildings and Eleven owners of the title deeds signed the contract with Airports of Thailand with more than 9.5 million baht compensated to near-by residents. However, there are 12 more buildings located in areas with NEF exceeding 40 and they are qualified to receive financial assistance from Airports of Thailand.
