Bangkok’s former Don Muang International Airport officially reopened for domestic flights
Wednesday, March 28th, 2007Bangkok’s former Don Muang International Airport, which was closed to commercial flights nearly six months ago following the opening of Suvarnabhumi Airport, officially reopened Sunday, 25 March 2007, for domestic flights.
Senior Transport Ministry officials, including Permanent Secretary for Transport Chaisawat Kittipornpaibul were on hand to welcome passengers boarding four Thai Airways International (THAI) and Nok Air flights.
They also welcomed the first group of passengers travelling by Nok Air from the northeastern province of Udon Thani to land at Don Muang at around 8.30 am.

Compared to an existing jumbo jet, the A380 is claimed to produce 30% less cabin noise and consume 20% less fuel.
The A380’s main deck is 20 inches wider than the Boeing 747 jumbo jet’s cabin, while the upper deck is 71% wider. The aircraft is 72.7 metres long, two metres longer than the B747-400. But its wingspan is wider than that of the B747-400, at 79.8 metres compared to 64.5 metres.
King Power denies its contracts abused law
Saturday, March 24th, 2007King Power International Group denies its contracts to operate duty-free shops and commercial areas at Suvarnabhumi airport bypassed a law designed to specifically govern public-private joint investments. The firm would pursue justice from the government for cancelling its contracts, said deputy chairman Chulchit Bunyaketu. However, it had no plans to file for emergency protection from the Administrative Court.
Vichai Raksriaksorn, King Power chief executive officer, said he will explain to the media tomorrow how the contracts were awarded to the company.
