State Railway given one month to finish Airport Rail Link plan

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

The state railway has been given one more month to complete its plan for the operation of the Bangkok Airport Rail Link so it can begin running on schedule. However, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) still did not have a concrete plan for its operation or for establishing the entity to run the system.

Setting up the operating body and training staff to run the service would all take time, and there was not much time remaining, he said.

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

The management of Suvarnabhumi Airport have received some consolation from a reader poll by Smart Travel Asia, an independent online travel magazine, that voted it the world’s fourth best airport. The top three finishers in order in the Smart Travel Asia poll were Hong Kong International Airport, Singapore Changi and Kuala Lumpur International Airport in its Travel Poll 2007.

The poll ranked Suvarnabhumi International Airport ahead of South Korea’s Incheon International Airport, which last March was named the “Best Airport Worldwide for 2006″ by the Geneva-based Airports Council International (ACI). Incheon was fifth in the Smart Travel Asia poll.
