Airports of Thailand approves 468.438 million compensations for noise pollution
Wednesday, December 13th, 2006Airports of Thailand‘s board has approved the allocation of Bt468.438 million to compensate those affected by noise pollution caused by the new Bangkok Airport.
In the filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, AOT, the operator of Suvarnabhumi Airport, said the board approved the payment of Bt43 million for the three residents who have agreed to sell a total of three plots of land and eight buildings.
The remaining budget of Bt389 million will be divided for the noise pollution victims. Some are still negotiating to sell their properties, currently at 29 plots of land and 36 buildings.
Passenger traffic to Thailand international airports rose
Tuesday, October 31st, 2006Total aircraft movements through the airports operated by Airports of Thailand (AOT). Bangkok (Don Muang), Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Chiang Rai grew 6.83% year-on-year in the January-September period to 260,602.
Passenger traffic through Thailand’s five international airports rose 13.15% in the first nine months of this year to 38.52 million, indicating a return of normal growth in air traffic in all but one location.
Freight processed through the airports increased 6% to 980,988 tonnes while mail volume fell 3.88% to 7,845 tonnes, according to figures from AoT.
Former Bangkok Airport may use as air maintenance center
Thursday, October 26th, 2006Thailand’s former Bangkok International Airport at Don Muang is being proposed to serve as the aircraft maintenance centre now that commercial flights moved to Suvarnabhumi Airport last month, National Economic and Social Advisory Council (NESAC) said Thursday.
Okas Tepalagul, chairman of the Communication and Energy Infrastructure Working Group, said he met representatives of Airports of Thailand (AOT), Thai Airways International (THAI), the Department of Civil Aviation and the Royal Thai Air Force to disscuss on how to use the, retired airport, Don Muang facility.
